ROUTINE CLEANINGS FOR CHILDREN & ADULTS

Having your teeth professionally cleaned is about more than a bright & shiny smile. Getting your teeth cleaned at the dentist on a regular basis may be the most important way we help you prevent oral health problems. A professional cleaning at our office is the only way to remove the stuck-on plaque & tartar that is left behind even after you brush.

In addition to flossing & brushing two times a day (for two whole minutes), visiting us at least twice a year for your teeth cleaning helps us catch & prevent common tooth problems, such as tooth decay (cavities) & gum disease. When oral health problems are caught early, they are easier & less expensive to treat & are less likely to cause you pain in the future. At your cleaning appointment, we can also give you tips on your at-home oral care routine, your diet & anything about your smile that you may be concerned or have questions about.

Plus, there’s nothing like that smooth, fresh feeling you get after your cleaning! Call 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics today for your appointment.

TEETH WHITENING

When it comes to approving the appearance of your smile, professional teeth whitening is one of the easiest ways to make a significant difference. Over time, teeth can become discolored due to aging, genetics, the foods we eat, or smoking. This discoloration can be reversed using professional teeth whitening, which penetrates into the hard outer layer of teeth, called enamel, & breaking up the compounds that cause stains. While whitening toothpastes & drugstore kits can help keep your teeth bright, teeth whitening from a dentist will make the fastest & most significant difference in your smile. Call 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics today to find out more about the professional teeth whitening services we offer.

SEALANTS

Sealants are highly effective in preventing tooth decay on the biting surfaces of chewing teeth. A sealant is a simple procedure in which our doctor places a clear or tooth-colored acrylic “coating” onto the surface of the tooth. This effectively “seals” the deep grooves where decay is most likely to begin. This technique is usually done on permanent molars as soon as they have come in enough to be sealed. Sometimes primary molars have grooves deep enough to require sealing, as well. At less than half the cost of conventional fillings & without any anesthetics or drilling, sealants are one of the most important preventive tools 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics offers. Call us at 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics to schedule your appointment today!

FLUORIDE

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that has been shown to both prevent tooth decay & even reverse it in the early stages. Fluoride acts by strengthening your enamel, which is the hard shiny outer layer of your teeth that protects the softer, more vulnerable dentin beneath. Fluoride can re-mineralize tiny micro-cavities before they have the chance to grow into larger cavities & cause problems.

We recommend fluoride as a preventive treatment for children. Fluoride treatments are usually done at six-month cleaning appointments & usually take the form of a rinse or varnish that is applied directly to the teeth. We may also recommend fluoride treatments for adults who are a high risk of tooth decay.

And of course, we always recommend that you use a toothpaste that contains fluoride.

TOOTH COLORED FILLINGS

At 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics, we believe that the overall health & peace of mind of our patients always comes first. Accordingly, at our office we have elected only to use new & advanced tooth fillings made of tooth-colored materials. We are able to offer you subtle, flattering options for fillings. Our tooth-colored or white tooth fillings are essentially indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Tooth-colored material is made of durable composite, resin or porcelain & can be used both as fillings & to repair defects in the teeth. Tooth-colored fillings are often used on the front teeth where a natural appearance is important. They can be used on the back teeth as well, depending on the location & extent of the tooth decay.

While our biggest concern is the health & function of your teeth, we are proud to offer tooth filling options that do not affect the aesthetics of your smile.

TOOTH COLORED CROWNS

Crowns cover & support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left. They can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown, also called a cap, is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped as well, or to cover a dental implant. A crown can make your tooth stronger & improve its appearance.

There are several types of crowns, including porcelain, ceramic, resin & metal alloys. The material used can be altered to match the color of your teeth. Our primary concern is keeping your smile bright & healthy, so ask our doctor which type is right for you!

Getting a crown takes two steps: First, we prepare the tooth by taking x-rays & pictures to check the surrounding bone & tissue & filing down the tooth to make room for the crown. Then the crown is made & cemented into place.

A crown acts the same way as a tooth, so after your crowns are placed, you should treat it the same way as well. Continue to brush & floss regularly & see your dentist for regular checkups!

DENTAL BRIDGES

Bridges are custom oral appliances created by your dentist to replace missing teeth & restore your smile. Bridges are usually made to resemble your natural teeth, but can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, alloys or gold. There are several types of bridges that vary in both stability, application & cost. Removable bridges can be removed for cleaning but are not as stable, fixed bridges are cemented to the natural teeth on either side of the missing tooth gap, & implant-supported bridges use an artificial metal tooth root to attach the bridge to the bone of your jaw. Your dentist can recommend which type of bridge is best for you.

EMERGENCY DENTISTRY

We recognize that dental emergency situations do arise, & at 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics, we will do our best to respond to your problem promptly. Whether it is something as simple as a tooth filling or a complicated procedure, we can provide you with assistance. If the problem arises when the offices are closed, our answering service will forward your message to our dentists.

The most common reasons our patients need emergency dentistry are accidents or toothaches. Toothaches can be caused by infection or by injuries. If you are suffering from a toothache, don’t hesitate to call us immediately. We will get you in as soon as possible & figure out what is going on so we can relieve your pain.

A tooth that has been knocked out or cracked is perhaps the most critical dental emergency. If your tooth has been knocked out in an accident, seeing a dentist as soon as possible is vital to saving your tooth. In the meantime before you get to the dentist, you can take steps to keep your tooth alive, including gently trying to place the tooth back in its socket (without touching the root), keeping the tooth between your gums & lip, placing it in a glass of milk, or placing it in an ADA-approved tooth preservation kit. If your dental emergency is potentially life-threatening, you should go to the emergency room.

Even if you have never been to our office before, we are happy to help you during a dental emergency. Please contact us immediately if you are in urgent need of care.

ROOT CANALS

A root canal is a small channel inside your tooth that provides the tooth with nutrients. If it becomes inflamed due to injury or infection, you will experience pain & may even lose the tooth. At 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics, we can remedy the problem & restore the damaged tooth, while ensuring that you are as comfortable as possible during the entire procedure. Nowadays, thanks to modern dental advances & technology, root canals are relatively pain-free. Think of a root canal procedure as life-saving first aid for your tooth. Don’t suffer needlessly from a toothache! Call us today for an appointment.

SIMPLE EXTRACTIONS

Sometimes it becomes necessary for a tooth to be removed because of crowding, disease or trauma. No matter the reason, we use a conservative approach with all tooth extractions. While the title of “surgery” sounds serious, most oral surgeries & extractions are routine procedures. Our experienced oral surgeon with perform your procedure with expert skill to ensure the most comfortable recovery & the best possible result.

WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

Wisdom teeth, if not removed, can become problematic, resulting in pain, infection & other dental problems. But getting them removed doesn’t have to be an ordeal.

Wisdom teeth are the third molars at the very back of your mouth that usually come in around ages 17-20. Most patients will be able to feel when wisdom teeth start to come in. When this happens, it’s important to come visit us as soon as you can. We will take updated x-rays & visually inspect the area where your wisdom teeth are coming in. If we determine that you should undergo wisdom teeth extraction, we will create a treatment plan for you.

The details of the wisdom teeth extraction procedure vary greatly from one patient to another. Generally, it is a straightforward oral surgery that has a recovery time of only a few days. Most extractions require some form of sedation & anesthesia, so we will work with you to figure out which form of sedation & pain control is right for you. Once you have had your wisdom teeth removed, you’ll be back to eating your favorite foods in a few days & you won’t have to worry about your wisdom teeth causing problems in the future.

Our skilled staff will make the procedure as easy on you as possible. Call today for your appointment & more details.
